Understanding Overdraft Protection
Unexpected expenses happen. Understanding how your available balance, overdraft services, and transaction processing work can help you make informed decisions about your account.
What is an overdraft?
An overdraft can occur when a transaction is presented for more than the funds available in an account. Depending on your account and service eligibility, Meridian Trust may decline the transaction or pay it through an overdraft service.
Give yourself a little time
Eligible Meridian Trust members may have a limited overdraft grace period associated with certain overdraft events. If you bring your account balance back to positive within 24 hours, the applicable $32 overdraft fee may be waived under Meridian Trust's grace-period provision.
This overdraft grace period is available once during a rolling twelve-month period for eligible Meridian Trust accounts.
The grace period does not change transaction authorization decisions or guarantee that an item will be paid. Other account terms and eligibility requirements apply.
